Desk shifting, web stuff & Beverlies

ok well only one Beverly…

Today marked the first day of using the Nursery computer. I had a bit of a moment when I thought I should have my nerd license revoked, but I quickly figured it out when asked if my computer thought I had dual monitors. I got MSN and Photoshop installed and mostly configured. I have to backup my brushes and that from my main computer’s Photoshop to transfer into the Nursery’s Photoshop. It’s painful resetting everything up, trying to remember all your passwords as you click through your bookmarks. BUT! As Squeaks gets older, Daddy will have a harder time concentrating with him in the room, so upstairs we shall go. Kev has VNC running so I can check my email on my main computer and all that, so I should be ok. Bev joked today, asking if Kev and I will have seperation anxiety, I think we’ll be ok *L*

I’m thinking harder and harder on my switch to WordPress. I’ve got the urge to create a new layout, so with a new layout I should have a new site as well. I just have to sit down and tinker with some permissions and then get the design how I want it. Port my photo blog entries over. I think the hardest part will be the categories, I’m going to assume that WordPress will port my categories, but I know that I’ll want to add to them as many of my entries cover more than one subject.

I got to talk with Bev today for quite some time. I have to admit, it was good. I missed her. My selfish part of enjoying her time being at Jay’s. She has the internets again! I plan to spend lots of time catching up, we’ve just not had the time like we used to. Whenever she calls I’m always up to my arms in either poo or boobjuice, so I have to call her and then she rings me back.

Wednesday I went to a Mommy meet. It wasn’t as skeery as I thought it was going to be. I met 3 wonderful ladies and their beautiful kiddos. 2 of the 3 babies were close to L’s age and the 3rd was just a few weeks old (so teeny!). We hope to do this again soon and have some other Mommies from our board join us. I’ve also joined up with a Meetup group for Ottawa moms that have lots of activities planned for the next few weeks. I have a playgroup arranged for Thursday, plus I’m going to try and do at least one of the dropin playgroups at the Ontario Early Years Centres. There are several in the area and they have playgroups throughout the week, some 2x a day (am/pm). I also want to start rounding up some activities to do with L here at home. Get him some musical instruments of some kind that he can manipulate with wee hands. I still have yet to learn me some nursery rhymes, that being said, I have yet to find nursery rhymes set to music that isn’t sung by kids. I cannot stand the sounds of children singing. I’d rather stick sharp pointy things in my ears.

hey what’s been going on

not a whole lot really outside of my Daddio visiting for the weekend. They came up on Friday evening and made for the border early Monday morning. We got up to relatively easy shinannigans. We went to IKEA, had some good suppers, my dad went with me to see Flame and I rode for the first time since December 2005. It was… an adventure to say the least. It could have been worse and for Flame not being exercised since sometime around the end of July, he was AMAZINGLY a good boy. Only 2 incidences of yeehaw rodeo time, which I miraculously stayed on for.

Lucien had some portraits done yesterday. He’s just over 4 months old, he’s starting to teeth (we have a few toothy bumps in his mouth), he babbles like nobody’s business. He sat for about 15 seconds unassisted on Christmas Day, and I think he may walk and totally skip crawling. He can stand and support his own weight with no help, we just help him with the balance. He also sleeps through the night. I have to explain however that his sleeping through the night doesn’t equate to other parents/babies sleeping through the night routines. Most parents I know put their kids Lucien’s age to bed bed around 630-7pm. Then they complain when the kid wakes at midnight, at 4am and then at 7am (or more). Lucien goes to bed around 10-1030 and will sleep through until around 5-7a these days. After he eats, he’ll usually go back to sleep till 8ish. So while I do have to wake up for 20 minutes or so early in the morning, I honestly cannot complain because he’s a pretty good nighttime sleeper.

I’ve been contemplating some changes with DIR/Picturing for a few weeks. I’m going to be combining the databases and putting my photoblog here on DIR. I just don’t have the oomph to be updating 5489572043729830584 sites, not to mention the time. As it stands now, I deal with DIR, Flickr, Lucien’s photo album on miaouphoto and trying to keep track of what I send my mom via CVS’ photo site for pictures to print. Once the databases are combined, I’ll be spending some more time figuring out how to make “private” entries private on WordPress and make the switch. Not to mention I can blog photos straight out of Flickr into my blog if I use WordPress.

SO, that’s it really. I’ll stick some pics in this here entry. Enjoy.

Grandpa comes to visit

My dad is coming up this weekend with his gf to visit with us and the baby. I gotta clean house and all that jazz. I should be doing it right now while Squeaker is napping. I’ll get on that in a second… but yeah, I was saying recently to a friend that my parents ALWAYS are here during a growth spurt. Well the baby just finished one, so I’m like yay! Dad gets to see him with him not screaming his face off.

Well.. I think we have a tooth people. And lots of screaming….-sigh-

Ovary Punch!

My god I didn’t post for a few days

no wonder I felt like something was off.

I guess…. I can update with Squeaker got his 4 month needles today. He did very well with them, never even peeped at the first one and only cried for about 20 seconds before being all smiles again through the tears.

He weighed in at 13 pounds half an ounce. Up 7 ounces from Nov. 29. He’s just going to be a slim baby because the kid eats like it’s going out style. He’s measuring at 24 inches long and his head circumference is 16.15 inches.
