HI MARC !

MISS YOU BUDDY!

20 weeks - Halfway there

Today marks what could be considered the halfway point of my pregnancy. So far it’s been a relatively smooth ride. I have not had a single day of sickness and aside from some heavy exhaustion in the 15-18th week, I’ve felt really great.

Over the past 18 weeks, I have slowly been coming to accept the changes in my body, the acceptance of the changes to my life have been coming a bit slower. I’m still not 100% sure I’m ready for this, but as each day passes the idea gets a bit more comfortable. The more I prepare everything around me, the more the reality sinks in. I figure by the time I’m in labour, I’ll be at least 98% *L*

Most women are just finding out at this stage that they are pregnant, if that was the case for me, I’d probably have a meltdown right about now. However, knowing from the very very beginning has not been that great either. I have been impatient to see the results of all these changes. I had said, if I’m going to look fat, I’d like to look fat for a reason thank you very much. Well, 2 weeks ago shortly before leaving for Michigan, I discovered I could no longer get my pants buttoned. 2 weeks later I’ve had my first complete stranger ask me when I was due.

I feel the baby move quite regularly now. I felt the first movements around week 16. As others have described it, it is like a little goldfish bumping into the sides of the plastic bag while on the way home from the pet store. From there it moved to feel like Ollie was clawing at the back of my belly button, looking for the easiest escape route. In the past week however, we’ve moved into full on kicking. This happens mostly when I’m either drinking or eating, however I did get a swift boot to the bladder while in Target last Tuesday. I’m pretty sure if I had tried to walk it off, I’d have peed myself :\

I have my first appointment with my new ob.gyn in about an hour. I should be getting ready to go etc but I would like to fire this out first. I MAY get an ultrasound today which hopefully will be able to tell us if we’re having a boy or a girl. K, Lorie and I are certain we’re having a boy, but I suppose we shall see. I also will be scheduling a 3d ultrasound as well which will rule out any uncertainties of boy/girl questions. In any event, this week we shall know. If I know when I get back, I will update :)

I will have a picture progression as well later this afternoon to show how I am growing.

Maternity Clothing and Travel

I’ve purchased my first few things of clothing in the past few days. Just 4 days ago I was complaining about how I didn’t look or feel very pregnant, and now today I feel as if my pants are slicing me in half. It’s almost as if Baby has decided well! it’s 18 weeks, i’m to be THIS size now and just POOF happened to be that size. I picked up a really nice black skirt with a roll bellyband, some stretchy soft cotton tees from Old Navy, that while are not mat shirts, will do just fine as them, I also got a nice tank top and white cover shirt to go with my skirt and a pair of khaki roll belly band pants. I would like to find a pair of jeans, but Old Navy’s were styled to look like they had been worn for 10 years prior to being on the shelf. Maybe the Sears at St. Laurent will have some, the Sears at Rideau certainly didn’t. As a fact, they don’t even HAVE a maternity department AT ALL!
