Upper Canada Sugarbush

Kev and I went to the Upper Canada Sugarbush over the weekend. It was pretty nice. We got some lovely syrup and yummy candies. It was neat to see it all, but there really wasn’t enough going on to make it worth the trip down there. It’s about an hour and a quarter drive, and we weren’t there maybe an hour. I got a few photographs.

So

That twitchy little red squirrel has thrown down the guantlets..

It’s on little man, it’s on! Imma make you into a hat!

He’s taken the feeder down AGAIN. Its being hung with wire this time.

And that Yankee Flipper feeder is looking more and more appealing. You need to watch the video for the full effect. The quicktime one is the better of them.

Raaaaaaaaaaaiin today

Hopefully it will melt some snow! And the ice back by my shed and patio! Because that would be extra super keen! Or at least make it soft, or thinner.. So I can chop it up easier!

We have this viney stuff on the the fence out back.. It doesn’t do anything but get leafy and take over apparently. Our first “yard waste” day is coming up April 6th, I think i’m gonna get some hand pruners this week and some yard bags. Start clipping them back before they go nuts, as well I can start trimming back the vine on the arbor, the sucker bits on the treeees… and gardening gloves.. I need me a hot sexy pair of those.

Spring is coming!

Thank God.

Of course now that I said that, it will snow like 10 feet this week.

Anyhoooos, I have mystery sprouty plants! Although, one has been chewed on by something :\ And a new mailbox! It’s very sturdy, and our mailman will love us now that he doesn’t have to deal with the old and busted one. And I met the giant kitty today! He belongs to our neighbours.. he’s very snooty. I just shouted out my window

at a freaking squirrel.

Imma get that little red snot.

More Backyard Nature

They’ve been a bit more bold this week in their destruction of my seed supply.

Because I can

“why did you choose these pictures for your website. I like all of your other photos, but anyone can tell that these pictures are out of focus and blurry”

I have to say thank you first and foremost for liking all of my photos but 2. In actuality, only ONE was out of focus. The second was taken through a fine mesh screen, hence the blurriness. But that’s being nitpicky. So let me elaborate on what and why I choose to post here on my site.

I choose to put any photograph I take on my website for mainly one reason. Because I can. This photography blog is by description, a companion to my personal blog. Sometimes I have really profound entries, sometimes I just have complete nonsense. Here on Picturing Reality, with the weekly photo meme’s, I have really great photographs, and sometimes I just have photographs that are to show something that happened in my daily life.

The 2 photographs in question are of the cardinal in the post Backyard Nature. Yes, I know they’re not the greatest, but they came with the excitement of purchasing my first home. I haven’t had “nature” in my backyard for 4 years. I was thrilled that I could show people that OMG i have birdies in my yard, and I can get closeups of them. Guess what, I have about 20 more photographs of backyard nature to post. Some are good, some are total crap. But I’m gonna post them, because I can.

Not every photographer out there has “omg perfection!” photographs, by far I have very few that can come close to being just “really good”. Normally I do strive to post the best that I can take on my website, but daily life isn’t perfect. Sometimes, it’s blurry and out of focus and you just have to work with what you got.

yay impressed

patched and repaired area in the living room over the fireplace is cracked again! hurrah! funny enough, it was FINE saturday when i dusted, because i specifically looked because of all the melt we’re having off the roof.

i just went to put a picture frame up, and saw it. not.very.happy.
