a quick note

just to let everyone know, things went exceptionally well yesterday coming home. flame was a superstar getting into the trailer, he sniffed and snorted once and then just hopped right in with the hauler. he traveled like a trooper from 6a-4:45p when he took 4 shakey steps backwards off the trailer and was welcomed to canada.

he’s settling in to his new horsehouse quite well, and was going to be turned out today in a small paddock with one other horse to make a new friend. the place is sorta a bit shabbier than i remembered, but it’s clean and safe.. no things sticking out to hurt the horses.. not to mention the people are lovely*L*

here’s flame in his new horsehouse

Almost Ready

to go. All that is left today, is a mountain of packing. I have about 1/2 of Flame’s things left to put in the trunk/saddle bags, and my suitcase hasn’t even begun to be packed. I have a touch of laundry in the wash right now, and then I’m off to the barn to clean up Flame. It’s raining today.. pretty steadily and mostly cooler. So much for picture day -sighs-

I spent the night at Nic’s last night. We sat and watched some interesting little flicks, then sat around BSing all night. It was pretty hard to get up this am*L* Poor Phil had to be at work at 6. I think it was around 730 when Jimmy, Nic’s fiance came in and asked if he was gonna get up for work*L* I’m laying on the couch thinking hell no i’m not getting up for work*L* I had thought Phil already left at 6 when the alarm went off*L* Such are the times.. Sarah and Lorie both want to see me today.. I’m afraid they’re gonna have to come to me. I have no time to go out tonight cept maybe with the parents for dinner.

I’m nearly back home folks…wish me luck and think of me while I’m heading over the border with the Beast on Board. Xoxoxoxoxo my lovelies.

26 things project

I’ve been working on my 26 Things project for the month of July while I’ve been here in the States. I’ve also used the opportunity to make some little home movies with my Dad’s camera as well.. I’m almost done with them, I’m also getting a feel for the Q&A project for sh1ft.org as well.. SO hopefully I will have them all done soon. I’ve been keeping an eye on the weekly memes, so I will have those as well for your viewing when I return to Ottawa.

horsie makeovers

spent most of yesterday grooming. the ears are mostly trimmed and the whiskers are gone. i will have to spend a bit more time over the next week finishing his ears. flame wanted NOTHING to do with the clippers around his head.. he was pretty unimpressed with me because i pulled his mane to thin it out yesterday. i also chopped it up pretty short. the mane looks fairly stupid now.. but at least he looks like a warmblood.. mostly. he had his teeth floated on tuesday, his mouth should be pretty ok today, so i plan on going out and lunging him for a good 45 minutes or so.. riding tomorrow..

i have most of his stuff packed, all that is left to do is load up the stuff from the locker into the trunk. i need to find another saddle bag for my dressage saddle. i can then put more equipment in the bag with the saddle. my hunter saddle bag is stuffed full of bridles, leg wraps, lead lines*L* it’s got empty space? something will get stuck in it. i am also looking to get a saddle cover to use on my dressage saddle when it is at the new barn. i contemplated making my own, but i am not the world’s greatest sewer and well.. i have no idea how to make a saddle cover either*L*

phew it’s warm out there

been spending the morning laying under the table with my legs sticking out in the sunshine in the yard. i’ve made a whole whopping 5 dollah today. i’ve also read 2 books*L*

finally ended up going to the fair the other night.. the weather held out amazingly well. the fair in itself was pretty uninteresting. there is no “ride all day” bracelet offered anymore.. when they have it on special days, it’s only good from 10a-5p.. and i ended up not going with nici.. she was sleeping or something and never met me at the gate. so todd and i went on 3 rides, had an elephant ear and then popped off to his band practice. they play tonight in this divey don’t eat the food or drink anything that isn’t prebottled restaurant. it should be pretty fun. while we were at band practice, i took part in figuring out how to deep fry things. if you ever want a deep fried snickers bar or twinkie, i’m the girl to call :) they were disgustingly good.. which terrified me*L*

after running the yard sale today, i’m heading out to the barn. i spent most of yesterday afternoon grooming flame and trimming up his ears/whiskers. i tried to comb out his tail but i need like some industrial strength greasy detangler or something.. because that comb would not move an inch in that rat’s nest even with conditioner loaded up on it. dinner is with lorie, and then off to see the band.

just siiiiiitting in the rain

just siiiiitting in the rain! what a wooooooooonderful feeeeeeeeeeeling, i’m happy again…

last night was pretty fantastic.. went to nici’s for dinner and as usual as the night went on we accumulated a few more people at the house. towards 8 or so, a storm started to move in.. we watched the heat lightening and listened to the gentle rumbles of thunder.. it increased in strength till 9, then suddenly the skies just opened up, the wind started blowing.. it was amazing. we just all huddled onto this little porch getting soaked, watching this storm go through. we did a bit of running in the yard.. lots of laughter.. it was nice.

earlier in the day, i had flame’s vet appointment for his health certificate and i came home to relax for a bit. lorie called and asked if i wanted to go to the mall so i showered quick and we all piled into her mom’s car and off we went*L* we took her stepson to hot topic so he could spend his gift cards he had.. i spent the time drooling over these Emily the Strange messenger bags that has her cats on them. i’m thinking i need to mention my birthday is approaching in under 30 days*L*

tonight, if the weeather holds (and hopefully stays this nice and cool too!), we’re going to go to the Fowlerville Fair. It’s been nearly 10 years since I went.. I cannot wait. I should call Todd and see if he’s up for going.

hrm..-taps microphone-

ooooookay.. pmachinepro2.3 is installed.. i’m a bit leery of it.. so lets see if i can get my “riding” blog set up.

*Edit: It works. There are some issues, but time does not permit me to mess with them

Leaving on a train thing again

Hey Hi and Yo wassup to all you homepeeps out there!

I’m buggering off to the States again for 17 days this time (12-29). I have wedding to participate in, yard saleing to do, 26things & photographic interview to complete, people to see and last but not least horse to import to Canaduh.

Like last time, I shall be popping in here and there, reachable through comments and stuff. If you would like updates as to what I am doing while I am at the parents DIR will be updated daily, as I have more to talk about when I am actually doing things*L*

I hope all of you have a lovely next few weeks. Wish me luck bringing the Stinkmonster back across the border, I’m already paranoid something horrifically will go wrong there.. as well as the forecasted 14 hours of driving non stop.

Stormy Skies

I hate how horse stuff

is so damn expensive. This Parelli program is supposed to be the cat’s ass for problem ponies, but my god! It’s so pricey for just one of the training packs! $200CAD for just the first one or $600 for all three. EEF. I think I’m gonna have to look for other pathways to the system or something..
