lately. I apologize for that. Things here are tromping along in their usual pace. Work is tiring, home life is the same, baby’s the only thing that’s moving faster than we are.
I’ve moved around in my position in work. HA. Sounds more glamourous than it really is, but I’m no longer working store front, but I’ve moved into the drive through team. They’ve asked me for a few weeks now and after some fustrating times working with a few of my coworkers I decided to switch teams. It’s faster paced, I have to pay more attention to detail, but it’s actually more fun. My team is excellent and we’re working hard to get the wait times down. A) because it makes us look better and B) if we do awesome we get cash bonuses for the day.
The baby is doing well. He rolls like nobody’s business these days. The time to invest in some more baby gates is here, because it won’t be long before he figures out how to get his knees up under him and starts crawling. He can push himself up on his arms, and he pumps his little baby legs like mad. I can see him get fustrated because he isn’t quite moving along as fast as he wants to. We joined Gymboree a few weeks ago as well. Lucien loves to go. Lots of music and activities, plus he gets to socialize with other babies. We still go to our playgroups, though it’s been lean going the past few weeks due to either my mom being here or right now him being sick. We also started solid foods while my mom was visiting a few weeks ago. He had some sweet potatoes. I’ve been wanting to feed him more, but the timing has been off. Once he wakes up from this nap he’s taking right now, we’re gonna have some peas. I have a bunch of jars waiting to go, I figure I get through the basic one food jars and then move onto some of the mixed foods. Once we have an idea of what he likes/doesn’t like or if he’s allergic to anything, we’ll move into making our own food. We have the The Baby’s Table which is chock full of good recipes for tasty eats for baby.
While my mom was here we did quite a few activities. I took her to Lucien’s Gymboree class as well as a gymtime. We went shopping, we went to St. Albert’s for cheese, we went to the Science and Technology Museum, the Canadian Museum of Nature and to a Mommy movie (Catch & Release - not as bad as I thought it was going to be)
One of my really great friends here in Ottawa is leaving me on Saturday. Her and her bf are moving to Barrie (about 5 hours away). Well he’s already moved with their stuff, gotten the apartment and settled in the pets. She had to stay and train her replacement. We hung out Monday and last night. I took some pics of her with the baby, Kev snapped a few of the two of us together as we didn’t have any of just the two of us. Imma miss that ho but we’re already planning a little vacation together.
Another more new friend is moving at the end of May. I’m pretty bummed that I didn’t get to meet her sooner in life as she’s a really great lady. She’s a good scrapbooking buddy and has a wicked sense of humour. Her husband is military and is being restationed about 2 hours from here, so doable as far as visits so that’s a good thing.
Sandi and I have gone out to 80s night at Barrymore’s a few times. We have a good laugh at the wildlife seen in the club, we dance, have a drink or two and then call it a night as we’re old married women that need to be home by 1130 or else we turn into pumpkins.
I suppose I should just end this with some photos as while I originally had more to say, I’ve kinda lost the drive to say it. So here’s some peektures from the past few weeks.
