You can do it little bird!

We spent the past 2 days driving to and from Midland. It was an adventure to say the least. A little bit more stuff in the car, an extra passenger -lol-. The baby did really well with traveling, even with the difference in air pressure going through all the giant hills etc. He’d grunt a bit at the bottom of the hill and then zonk back out.
The reasoning for going to Midland wasn’t an entirely happy one unfortunately. Earlier this week, K’s grandfather passed away and while he didn’t want a funeral, as a family we wanted to all get together with Gran. So, off we went to visit for a family dinner and brunch this morning. While Lucien traveled extremely well, once we were done in the car he turned into a bit of a monster. He was super hungry (we may be hitting a growth spurt again. He’s super clingy and always hungry), full of gas and over all just cranky as all get out. Made dinner at Aunt D’s a bit interesting as K, his mom and I all took turns dancing a screaming baby around the living room while the other people ate. He finally quieted down only because he filled his shorts I believe 3 times in a very short about of time. He’s been a bit backed up the past few days and well, he cleared himself out and then some! All that aside, we had a really tasty dinner and it was so very good to see Gran. I felt bad having to leave her so soon. Hopefully we can take another visit soon.
While the drive was exhausting for all parties involved, I have to say I love going there and back. We don’t take the 401 to the 400, we go what we call “The Northern Route”. It involves several back highway changes through northern middle Ontario, just south of Algonquin Park. The scenery is just beautiful. I think next year, I’d like to go during the beginning of October. It’s lovely with greenery, and starkly beautiful with nothing but bare birch and pine trees lining the craggy glacier rock; I’m sure it’d be breathtaking when it’s blazing with Autumn colour.
