In a very short hour L will be 2 weeks old. It seems like it’s been a lifetime but at the same time it’s passed in second.
We’ve been adjusting ourselves to a new routine. Ok well not that new; we pretty much do the same thing we’ve always done. We just take a bit during the day to feed the baby and play with him. Sleep has been the biggest challenge for us. L will sleep like the dead after a nursing session during the day for hours, but yet at night he wants nothing of it. Getting that 3 hour time block is a godsend. Our co-sleeper finally arrived on Friday. Squeaker loves to sleep in it thank God. Before the co-sleeper arrived he had been sleeping in the playpen that Uncle Jay bought us. Was a good thing it showed when it did, made life a LOT easier.
It’s amazing how much L has changed since he was born. He’s already gained back to his birth weight and by now has probably passed it. He eats like a champ, and is generally very good natured. He has a bit of a temper on him when we wait too long in responding to his signals (or miss them all together). He’s starting to fill out, he’s no longer so skinny. I had to remind myself to start snapping photos of him because he has changed so much I am going to regret not having something to remember the teeny baby he was.
THe nursery is I would say 90% done. We still have a few odds and ends to take care of. The curtains need to be hung, the dresser and nightstand to be gotten, the wiring for the speakers and all that finished. Today I spent a good portion of the time sorting everything away and putting the bedding into the crib. K had finished the painting and building of the furniture while I was in the hospital. Squeaker’s early arrival naturally caught us off guard.
I’m healing very well from my surgery. I have to make my 6wk post partum checkup appointment later today, to make sure all is well and to have my IUD put in. I have a bit of scar tissue on the left side it feels like under the skin, plus I want these damn steri strips off; THEY ITCH! So those will be 2 things I ask about when I call. I feel almost back to normal. Slowly but surely I’m getting back my body. I’m already down past my prepregnancy weight by 4 pounds. Breastfeeding has been the best diet ever!
I have to go to the dr. again next Tuesday for my wrists. During the last few weeks of my pregnancy I had noticed some swelling in my hands as well as wrist pain. Tendonitis is apparently quite common in pregnant women and I was told that it’d go away after the baby was born. Well the swelling has gone away, and the finger joint pain, however the wrist pain has only been getting worse. So I took the last appointment my dr had left until mid October. I wish it was earlier in the day even though it’s at 10am. I wish it was at 8am, because then I’d be one of the first in and not waiting for 5748590378905748 hours. It will be severely UNFUN with a newborn, not to mention people are filthy nasty and I don’t want them near L. Have I mentioned we’re looking for a new doctor? It’s not that we don’t like our doctor, he’s a pretty good guy.. but we hate hate hate hate HATE his office and the way that the other doctor’s overbook.
Ok it’s time for bed. I should be sleeping while he does!
