Lots of New photographs

Over on Picturing Reality. There are 3 new galleries from the past few weeks, including Canada Day and Dutchess’ first camping trip.

Dutchess Went Camping

Dutch had her first camping trip over Canada Day weekend. She was a really good dog!

Canada Day

Juli and I went downtown for Canada Day. Got some pretty interesting snaps.

Upper Canada Village

While my father was visiting we popped down to Upper Canada Village. We had a really good time even in the extreme heat. In the next month I plan on returning to the village, as well as the Queen’s Gardens (though there probably isn’t much left) to reshoot some photographs. There is a contest that is open till October that I plan on entering a few images into; if you have a favourite or two, please let me know either in comments or by email noting the page URL or full file name (not the image description). As well, if you like something, but the photo isn’t quite doing it for you, this is your time to make a request, as I can reshoot it with a different angle or whatever.

I hate squirrels.

I seriously think I’m gonna get a pellet gun the next time I’m in Morrisburg. They have completely decimated my beans, corn and peas in my garden. Snatched them right up and ate the roots.

I’ve raised the netting and liberally covered the entire garden in cayenne pepper.

my dog needs to seriously buck up on her squirrel hatred and become bitter and angry towards them like me.

Happy 4th of July!

God Bless America

Yesterday’s fun

yesterday morning while up with the dog, I was speaking with Miss Juli about the plans for the day. We didn’t really have much, so I was like oh I should take you downtown etc, for seeing all the crazy happenings. The more I thought about it, I was like meh I hate the ordeal involved with going downtown, because I’d have to park and ride as Kev was still sleeping. In the end of it, I decided that being we don’t know if Juli will be living here next July, that we should go downtown . Off we went, and arrived at the madness.

So many people, but it was really good. The energy of the crowds was high, everyone was in a good mood. The smells of all the street vendor eats were floating through the air, as people crowded around in sections to watch the street performers. We wandered around for about 5 hours or so, before decided we had seen enough and hopping back on the bus.

It’s been one week

since you left her here. And she’s doing pretty fabulous.

Dutchess is slowly learning what she can and cannot do. Some things she’s lightening quick to catch on, some things you just look at her and go WHAAAA? and then she does something stupid that cancels out the yaydog! moment you had when she caught on to something. She’s walking on the leash like a champ, she is learning to sit and wait when someone has to do something before we can move on. Like when I open the door to go out to the yard, she has to wait before going out, no more door rushing. When we leave the yard, she sits and waits as I open the gate all the way, and then doesn’t move till I tell her “come”. As well, she sits before we cross the street so that I have her attention while waiting for traffic to clear. When someone walks by us, she has to sit and wait, no more jumping around when people show up. Here in the house she is learning that jumping up at any time is unacceptable, be it when someone comes over, or at the counter or at the couch. Last night however, I don’t know WHAT her issue was, but boy oh boy was she full of it. We’ve been switching her food over to something a bit nicer than Purina. All natural stuffs, no by products. The changes we hope to see with her on this food are healthier coat, better appetite, less stinky ass, and less poop that looks like a frozen yogurt cone. So far the poop and less stinky ass is the improvement, though not great(there you go Jay and JC.. a poop post on this blog).

We’re supposed to be going down to Upper Canada tomorrow again for some camping with Kev’s dad and his GF. Should be fun, however we have no dog crate for the monster yet for in the car. I was looking at a couple of different things. The soul owning dynamic is shifting. It will no longer be Home Depot and Rona that torture us. They’re leasing our souls out to PetSmart. Walking down the isles of that store really makes me wish Dutch played with toys. She’s happiest chewing a stick.. we have no sticks.
