TV watchin

So Kev and I have been watching The Life of Birds with David Attenborough for the past couple of weeks. As with many different animal “discovery channel” type of shows, this one from the BBC is pretty damn cool. Some of the stuff you just watch and go holycrap that’s pretty freaking amazing. Take for example last night, we watched “Finding Partners” and there is this bird in Australia called the lyrebird. He’s not a fantastic looking bird.. kinda cute in theface, has some nice long tail feathers, but overall pretty dull looking. HOWEVER.. this little duder can make some serious noise. For this bird to attact a mate, he has to sing the most varied song. On the episode, we see him trick a Kookaburra female into thinking a male is calling to her.. which then progresses to several different other bird calls, a camera shutter releasing, a camera shutter releasing that has an automatic wind on the film, to a very obvious car alarm and then finishes up with the sounds of a chainsaw being started, and cutting wood. There are also a few hints of handsawing going on. All of these sounds are very easily identifiable, and it’s not one of those little hey that kinda sounds like “this” bird noises. It was jawdropping-lol- Not to mention very hilarious, watching this little guy sound like a car alarm with much enthusiasm.
