Dreaming.In.Reality

or is it three weeks now? Let’s start with my trip to my mom’s and go from there.

I left the 11^th came home on the 15^th. Things were adventurous from the second I stepped into Ottawa Airport. I was randomly selected to do extra security screening. They totally dumped my purse, dug through everything, I had to give them my shoes which apparenlty had the same sort of something on them that Bev’s did. I had already stated on my customs card that I visited agriculture areas within the past 14 days, told them where it was what it was. They gave me back my shooz and off I went to the actualy Customs fellow. He was rather rude about why I would visit my mom. It was like uh, cuz I want to go see my mom?! Apparently I need a better reason than missing my Mom to go visit her. The flight itself was nice, smooth no worries. My plane had engines! No propellers this time! I landed in DTW early, had to walk clear across the dang airport to the front of it. No one knew where our luggage was, I had no idea where Lori and Nici were. I called my Mom collect, to tell her to call Lori and tell her where I was at, so that they could find me. So an hour later, the airport people finally decide our luggage is coming out on track 5, I grabbed my one bag and turned around and Lori and Nici after 45 minutes of wandering around down the hall had found me.

I spent Thursday afternoon looking through old photos. I have to get the scanner up and running so I can start scanning things in and then put the photos in an album or 20. Thursday afternoon, Mom, me, Lori, Lori’s husband Dan, their daughter Lacey and Nici and her new baby went bowling. Well the baby sorta laid on the table and giggled for the most of it. Threw up a few times. Lacey beat us all in her 2 year old HAHAYOUADULTSSUCK glory. We then headed our seperate ways, and changed for the eve. Went to a friend’s house for a many hour pool party. I got home pretty late, and then spent the Friday cleaning out my mom’s garage and taking down the fence between the house and garage for her. It was put up a few years back when the old white picket finally fell apart and the dad needed something to keep Dutchess contained in the yard with.

Saturday I spent at my aunt’s with the family. Pretty much run of the mill stuff. Got some photos of the family, spent time with my Grandmother. We headed back to Brighton late afternoon, and then I got ready to head out to Ann Arbor for the evening. I should have brought my umbrella *L* I went to a little NewAge bookshop/tea room to see Tim play. It was a fun night of memories and laughter. We had a lot of joking about seeing Tim play in the “days of old”, when we were right out of high school. When he first started the band. After it was all done, I headed back to the garage. I have to remember that there is a more”downtowny” parking structure on Heron -lol- By the time I got back to the car I was soaking wet and had to pee something fierce. 20 minutes home was torture!

Sunday I went out to breakfast with Mom, we talked about redoing the kitchen. I think we have a pretty good idea now what we’re doing. I have some techniques to look up and figure out how to do. Some favours to call in on my friends for helping redo the linoleum tile. Dad called around 10:50, he was to pick me up at 11 -lol- I asked Mom if she wanted to bet 5 bucks he was going to be late. Sure enough, my mom had to pay up 5 bucks. Dad showed up around 1130 and off I went to his house. I spent the afternoon on the patio chatting with him and Pat getting dinner ready. We left for downtown to see Joe Ely. The buddy he played with, Joel Guzman, was pretty damn fantastic. I heart me some accordian and boy oh boy could this guy play the accordian!

Since I got back I’ve been working hard and hardly working. Been planning the housewarming party. I really need to move on that, it’s coming up horrifically fast and there is a lot to do! Lots of cleaning, I want to organize those 2 bedrooms upstairs finally. At least get the one cleaned out of “half unpacked” and sorted into the smaller of the two in some sort of orderly fashion. I also need to get the curtain hemmed and installed in the kitchen. I am hoping to maybe get Kev to build the gate for the arbor. This way Dutchess can be in the yard for the time we are outside and I don’t have to worry about her getting out with people coming and going out the main gate at the patio. If anything I suppose I could duct tape her to the fence or something, though she’d figure a way to get out of that too.

Halloween is also coming up soon. People say oh it’s 2 months away! But 2 months is a short amount of time when you are hand constructing about 98% of your costume! I have 2 of the accessory pieces in my hand. This allows me to go out and get started on the bits I need to sew. I have to match fabric colour, pick patterns. I’m attending a Halloween party at Jello’s house, and this year I’m doing it right instead of half assing myself into a cat costume or something like I’ve done since I was 18. For those of you who DO know what my costume is, please take care not to discuss it in my comments. I will edit you *L* and I won’t be polite about it.

I’ve also been thinking about upgrading the camera. I’ve wanted to do this for a while, but I’m really gonna do it this time. Canon is releasing a fantastic new hotness, called the D5. However it comes with a hefty price tag. So, I’m thinking of maybe picking up the 20d instead. Possibly with the release of the D5 the price on the 20d will drop a bit more and I can snap it up for a reasonable price. The D30 has been a lovely camera to me, and it still is a lovely camera, however I need something faster, more pixels and let’s face it. Having one big camera between me and Kevin sucks. This way we can have one each.

I have a pretty busy visitor schedule happening in the next week. I just realized this Saturday night at Kev’s cousin’s wedding (which btw was lovely). Oh yeah, we were in Midland over the weekend -lol- I have some photos to share later. Anyhoooos. I realized that mother in law and her bf are heading out of town to Alberta for the month. They’re going to a fancy camera convention thingie, and vacationing they’re way out there. This means we get Gorby and her other wee parrot Jiminy for the month. Add to that mix, we are getting Bevie again for a few days in the beginning of the month while she travels with Tim and his wife to Ontario. So I’ll have 3 parrots, a dog, and a Bev. YAY. I’m gonna put a ZOO sign out over my driveway and charge admission :) So I get the parrots sometime this weekend I think, and then I get Bev on the 5/6th and then the 9-11, or so she says. It should be a LOT of fun. I personally think she shoudl stay till the 19th. This way she can be at the party with me and Kev! What say you Bev? I have “pink” martini stuff now that is just as wunnerful as blue!

But yeah. Thats about it. Dentist appointment in the am. I need to make a dr appointment for all the yearly check up stuff. Gonna get a lactose allergy/intolerance test done, have my cholesteral and thyroid checked. I haven’t been going to the gym as much as I SHOULD be going, but with what I have been doing, I should be losing weight and I’m not. So I’m gonna get some things checked to make sure there is nothing weird going on preventing me medically from being a skinny bitch.
