My disasterous and out of control garden
Maybe with some better planning next year *L* I have lots of tomatoes, lots of hot Portuguese peppers, about 5 Hungarian Wax peppers, about 3 Green peppers, 2 Red Sweet Peppers and a whole lot of basil, the mint is getting carried away, and some carrots. When do you know that carrots are done growing? I sure don’t know…

I think your carrots are about done. I have basil growing too, and I found out from my handydandy herb book that apparently you’re supposed to harvest the leaves BEFORE the flowers shoot. haha… I’ll be waiting a while before I can use my basil obviously…. BUT… home grown parsley, chives and oregano is AWESOME.

You pick test carrots to see how big they are getting. They will just keep getting bigger and bigger if you leave them in the ground too long. The smaller they are the sweeter and the bigger the woodier they get.
