The weekend went to quickly
So my dad has been here and gone. I was just laughing to myself about how I can’t handle him leaving. Last night he wasn’t even out of the driveway before I was snotting myself all over Kev’s shirt. It’s funny to me because not that long ago, I couldn’t wait to have him leave or myself be gone. He’s had some life changes over the past few months, and they really have been for the better. I think for one fo the first times since I was a litle girl I didn’t have to prompt him into saying I love you. Being Daddy’s Little Girl sucks. -lol-
Most days got off to a slow start. Something that has never happened before with my dad. I dunno if he’s deciding to be more laid back or what, but lateness was never his thing. They showed up pretty late in the eve Thursday due to pokiness and Toronto rush hour. Friday he was late due to pokiness, we pretty much just sat around and talked.. then went to the barn to see Flame. Flame was a good boy and didn’t act up, but then again it was smokin hot this weekend -lol- After that we stopped at Little Ray’s Reptile Zoo. That place is freaking COOL. They have so many skeery things, and OMG GINORMOUS SNAKES.. Like, eat your children snakes! That’s how big they are! Spiders, leezards, and SCHOOOGE aligators. We got to see a lot of them fed. After Ray’s we went out to dinner. We ate at the Pelican Grill here in town just off of Bank street across from Local’s. WOW. Place was fanatastic. I had fish and chips, and it was seriously the best tasting stuff I had ever had. Dad had maple glazed smoke salmon which was deviine smelling, and kev had lobster something or another. I gave the lobster another go. It was a definate forgetaboutit for me -lol- I’ll keep trying. Eventually I will find somewhere that makes it and it tastes good.
Saturday not TOO late but still late. Not as late as friday -lol- We headed down to Upper Canada Village for the afternoon. Dutchess was left here at the house and our neighbour let her out for us halfway through so she could wee. We had a really good time while we were there. I had the D30 with me instead of the Olympus this time. So I got quite a few better shots of things. I have them all filtered and picked out, I just have to work on them now. On the way back from UCV, we stopped off at Flame’s. We discovered he smashed his face on something, and gave himself a nasty cut near his eye. So that sorta took up a lot of time, because I had to wait for the vet to call, clean the wound, dress it a bit and investigate his stall to see what he did it on. We think he did it on his feed dish in a fantastic show of idiot horseness. He went back to the hotel after we came home as he was tired.
Sunday, he was pretty on time and we went out shopping. We got a table for Kev to put his mitre saw and other worky tool things on for K’s birthday in a week and a bit. After that we went to the mall, and found me some new schooz. Man let me tell you NIKE makes some UGLY ugly ugly schooz. I found a pair i liked on clearance and we were on our merry way. We looked around the mall, had an ice cream and then headed out to the tack shop down the street to get Flame a new fly mask that fit to cover his noogin. We headed back here and went grocery shopping for eats. We grilled veggies and meats on the grill. Marlin, tenderloin, bell peppers, vidalia onions.. num.. was very good. After dinner, we planned his escape route to Midland. Gave him several options to avoid driving on the 401. He wants to stop in Haliburton like we did last year, and then make it in time to go to the Shrine. He didn’t get to go to that last summer, so he’s looking forward to finally getting to see that. However, as he left, in true dad fashion he left a cd of pictures i made him here, as well as his map and all his directions-l- So he came back this morning and picked them up. Oh and dropped off the new bucket he bought me for the barn, to minimize my space problem i have in my tack box.
Dutchess didn’t take well to him being here again and then leaving. She cried the entire time he was here and then after he left. I myself held it together at least long enough for him to be down the street and me back in the yard with Dutchess. She spent about 10 minutes staring down the driveway waiting for him to come back.. when that got tiring, she laid down and rested her head on the bottom rail of the gate and whined.
I have some dog shopping to do over the next couple of weeks. We want to get her another bed to put in the den so we don’t have to drag her sleeping bed all over the place. She’s been camping out with us in the den when we are in there. I am also on the elusive search for Canada themed dog collar/harness/leash items. No luck yet, but I did find someone to handmake a collar for the CIBC run for the cure this fall. We need a collapsible softside crate for the car/camping, and a few other odds and ends. I know we won’t need ANY dog treats what so ever. She’s got tons! I have to find a vet, and see where I get a license for this beast. We also need to do a touch of repair on the gate here.. it will work but it needs a few new hinges. Something a bit sturdier etc. Won’t take much to fix. Maybe as well cutting some plywood and painting it brown to put at the bottom of the existing patio fence to block the 6 inch gap :\ right now we just have plywood propped up against the fence. I also had an idea of that plastic stripping stuff that you weave into chain link fence. i figure we can put it on 2 sides to block the most distracting stuff from her. IE, kids and the dogs down the way.
Anyhoos, I need to take the lappie back inside and plug it in. I’m down to 18% and it’s getting hot out here.. Schteemie. Being that I have half the house out here with me, it takes a while to get everything in. Dog, dishes, lappie, mouse pad, mouse, coffee, phone, camera..I have another entry to do later today, so be on the lookout.

Lobster rules. Boiled, broiled, grilled, it’s all good.
