Da Roof Da Roof
Da Roof is nearly finished.
This means we can move on to bigger and more expensive projects! -bashes face off desk- Oh, like the fence. Bebberlee and I spent many hours of me raging and hissing, driving around town for the price of this damn fence -lol- I think I scared the bejesus out of her in Home Depot. However, we ended up at Rona, where I talked to 2 different gents about this stupid fence. The first guy gave me a rough estimate, which was not bad.. however he needed to know how many feet each side was for the estimation of posts. So Bebberlee and I spent the next morning IN THE RAIN, measuring this damn fence again. 2 days later, we went to Rona.. I kept forgetting to go.. Personally I was just tired of being in the car. So we dropped off the measurement off and I sat around waiting for the call.
I went out getting some groceries on Tuesday, that’s when the call came of course. When I came in, I started prepping dinner and Kev was like there was a phone call, you need to have a seat. Granted because he didn’t come RUNNING right when I entered the house, I knew it wasn’t an emergency. Being suspicious, I sat in the kitchen chair he offered me.. and listend to him say that Rona called. Eleven Thousand and Three Hundred Dollars. Much blinking and WTFs happened after that.
Yesterday we went to Rona to check it out. There HAD to be something amiss. This shit is supposed to be all packaged together. So we go, and low and behold.. the posts and post caps are sold seperate. No big deal. We write down the prices for the “fence” package, which included the slates, rails, screws and spacers, the posts, the caps, and then ultimately the lattice. The lattice alone was $54 a piece. Another WTF moment.
Upon arriving home, I spoke with our neighbour while she was out with the kidlets. Let her know that I was going to be re-estimating the cost of the fence without the lattice. Who knew, that lattice would make such a big difference? The price including install and labor, suddenly dropped to about $8400. Still pricey, but not the cost of a brand new compact car. This is much more tolerable, and we may have the roofers install it for us.. if we decide to go that way. We haven’t really discussed it too much. One wallet gouging at a time I suppose. meh.

lattice fence to keep in a dog? am i missing somthing? does “lattice” mean something else up there?.. down here it means expensive, not good for the long run, and definitely not fence material.

lattice is just what you’re thinking it is jess, however it is placed usually in 1 foot high sections along the top of a privacy fence.
