It sure hasn’t been a fun few days

Thursday sucked. Yesterday was spent massively cleaning the den, the bedroom, the atrium, and then the disaster area that was the living room.

We got up early, had some coffee and proceeded to clean the den. Packed all the loose computer things up, papers and desk things. Dusted the desks, and then were off to Wal-Mart for a few things. Paper towel, garbage bags, lightbulbs. All the fixtures in this place are globes now, they’re ugly, we had no bulbs for them, so we made do with what we had. The lightbulbs we bought, 2 of the 4 were broke in the package.

The atrium, was almost as disgusting as it was last spring when we made the push to make it usable space here. The mildew was starting, the carpet was frozen to the floor, insect corpses, and plant matter was frozen to the frames.. what parts of the carpet that wasn’t frozen, was soaked through from the windows melting. We cleaned that out, got the carpet up, rolled. We had to place the end in a bucket, because of the water draining out. Kev spent most of the afternoon, cleaning the windows and floors in there.

While he was doing that, I was tackling the bedroom. Put laundry away, picked up, dusted. After that I moved to the living room, packed up the rest of the stuff on the shelving unit. We’re starting to be a bit over run by boxes. We tore the coffee table of doom down, that will be hitting the garbage tomorrow or MOnday. It’s still a good table, I just hate it. It’s got scratches ands tuff in the glass, if someone wants it they can take it*L* It had to go, to just be gone, I hate that table and secondly, we need more room for more boxes.

Everything was done and taken care of by 6pm, in the form of a clean kitchen floor when landlord was supposed to be here. We were just sitting back having a cuppa trying to relax. 630 the phone rings, I’m thinking it’s him saying he’s cancelling. But I was wrong, it was the lady that owns the barn.

Flame was not feeling well. He was pawing at the ground and sniffing round like he wanted to roll in his stall. She was goign out to walk him around and watch him till I got there. In 2001, Flame had to go to clinic for nearly 3 weeks because he was dehydrated and had slipped a tendon around his spleen, which caused him to develop toxemia. Ever since then in the very cold cold weather, he occassionally gets a bit extra gassy and uncomfortable. Sometimes it’s worse than others, because he was trying to roll.. I figured this one was a worse than others. By the time I got out there, he had passed gas quite a few times. Within 5 minutes of being there he had a good poo. Once he did all that he was pretty interested in having a bit of hay and water. I took him out and walked him a bit more. L and I chatted about what could be causing this, and developed a process of elimination by situation. He always drinks a lot of water, he gets more hay than other feed, the pellets he gets isn’t any more than he’s had since July when he arrived there. He’s certainly warm enough, those his winter coat is lacking. So we are going with, he just isn’t moving around enough during the day. He gets fed around 7a, goes out around 8a every morning, gets some hay in the paddock around 1130a and then comes in for the day at 3p. L says that he and the other 3 horses out there don’t move much during the day, they tend to stay right up at the barn. So it’s more exercise for Flame time. Today I went out, and he was a mental case on the lunge line, but in the end he was listening so all in all it wasn’t a total waste.

After being at the barn today, K and I went to the Greek Souvlaki House here in town. Good god these people give you a lot of food. I always bring mine home*L* On a souvlaki plate, you get like 4 whole large potatoes, at least 2-2.5 cups of rice, 3 cups of greek salad, and then your meat stick. It’s definately more than what the normal human being can eat. Kevin finished his plate today. I was saddened though by their menu. I had these lovely creatures at the GreekFest last year called Tiropita. They do not have them there-sighs-
