i broke…
the call of the FFX2 got to me.. I started the game last night. My new book, it just wasn’t as alluring. So I popped the disc in, cleaned up my savecard and was whisked back to Spira. Let me tell ya, opening scene.. I enjoyed it more in Japanese (I had downloaded an mpeg of this scene from the Japanese version).. the crazy popstar Charlie’s Angels backgrounds while naming the characters? I could have done without.. I felt like I was playing that Britney dance game. -shudder- Things progressed, I had my first battles.. HolyBatShit. Confusing as all get out *L* The villian, LeBlanc? I’d like to punch her in the head, she’s just not evil enough. She elicites no hateful emotions from me other than I find her to be an annoying twat. Along with Brother.. for someone who’s crushing on Yuna, he certainly has the I’mOutOfTheCloset moves. So far those are the only grumps*L* SOME of the you go girlfriend stuff has gotten to me, but it’s not terribly bad, but I CAN see where some of the more serious FF gamers are having their issues with it.
Now for what I DO like about it. The graphics are tasty, the movies are beautiful. It’s lovely to go back and visit places from FFX. Having just finished that game, going back into Zanarkand was truely odd. I still have the feelings of just having battled there, finishing the story line etc. I do like from what I can tell, they’ve brought the same voice actors back for Rikku, Yuna, and others. I don’t think Wakka is the same… he sounds similar, but there was something off about it. That and I will agree with K.. the whole LuLu pregnant thing is odd*L* Something about a game character saying that the baby just kicked was truelyfreakingbizzare. I had some good laughs already with Paine’s comments, Isaaru’s “WWE” announcer’s voice was amusing.. I was expecting at “What is the Meaning of Life” to have some sort of HHGTTG reference thrown in there. Again, that’s a K influence on me*L* After about 5 hours of playing, I think I’m getting the hang of the dressspheres and garment grids. I’m still finding a bit to change “jobs” during battle etc, because of the Active Time Mode. So much going on*L* If anything I think my hand eye coordination is about to improve.
