laundry, amazon & books.. oh my!
So the other day.. I went through and rewishlisted my entire list on amazon.com over to amazon.ca. took about 2 hours, things listed differently, not listed at all.. having to dig for them.. you would THINK that having the accounts work on both sites, the wishlists would too.. -wrinkles nose. Some stuff got removed, some stuff was added.. mostly books concerning henry the 8th and his assortment of wives… I’m looking to find pick up some concerning Elizabeth as well.. Queen Mary…I’ve had this addiction to historical fiction, ever since reading The Other Boleyn Girl by Phillipa Gregory.
Phillipa Gregory herself has been a bit of a treasure hunt for me as well. I’ve owned OTBG for quite a few months now, and recently picked up her book Meridon. I read this while traveling home to my parents, and then of course, I discovered that it was the 3rd book in a series. So I set out to find the other two books. EVERYwhere in the States I looked, it was listed as out of print or not released yet. I have a sneaky suspicion I’ve discovered her in the middle of a reprint -huffs-. So I checked Amazon.ca, and they had the first two books in the series available, K ordered them for me. The second book has apparently shipped, but I won’t read it till I get the first one. There are several other books that are available of hers from .ca, but I shall wait.
I also did again what I said I wasn’t going to do. I bought the first book of the Mage Storms trilogy in paperback. Like the Mage Winds, I have this in hardcover edition, but like Mage Winds.. it is also back at my parents house stored away and I want to read it dammit. At our local chapters for the longest time, they only had the second and third book of the series, so I never got them.. because I wouldn’t have the first.. While I was home 2 weeks ago, I decided to pick up the first, and when I got back, I’d get the other 2. Well low and behold*L* I go to chapters, and they have the first book.. the second/third are gone. -huffs- I’ve already finished the first book.. so I am in book limbo. I tried reading some Tolkein.. but I’m just not feeling that right now*L* I want to re-explore familiar territory. There are several other Mercedes books I’d like to pick up again.. a couple of the Diana Tregarde books that I know have fallen apart.. if I can find them.. I never understood why that series never did so well.. Maybe it was the timing.. I bet it’d go a LOT better these days.. with the interest in the Occult and Vampires being so much higher. In looking for them on Amazon.. I see they have “reissue” stated in their descriptions.. So at least I can know they’ll be around for a while. I also picked up a copy of OwlSight, in hardcover in the bargin bin at Chapters. Of course it’s a second in the series*L* I need to get the first one.. ugh.. I can’t win. That and Ebay always has lovely hardcover editions on auction.. Like that elusive hardcover edition of The Last Herald Mage.. that was released.. It has all 3 books in the series.. all in one book.. I want I want I want.
It looks like laundry is going to be my “exercise” for the day. It’s so dreary outside.. All misty etc.. definately not walking weather. BUT at least I have clean socks and teeshirts.
