A poll yesterday on msnbc was.. about should same sex partners be “allowed” to post their marriage or life partner ceremonies in public newspaper announcements…my “point of view” about the whole subject…
It comes a day in age in America, when many people are striving for more and more personal freedoms. EVERY human being should have the same rights, no matter what or who they are, and no matter what or who they love and love as. In denying members of the gay and lesbian community, rights to marry, rights to adopt, rights to healthcare, rights to live their lives as members of the HUMAN community.. you make them a second class citizen. In doing this, the people who deny them those rights and liberties are no better than those, who made other members of communities, throughout America’s history, second class citizens. Shall we allow them to make it so we will have seperate schools, restaurants, and drinking fountains again for those considered “second class”? In the year 2002, I would have believed that my country was more advanced than that. Members of the gay and lesbian community, should be able to have their marriages or life partner ceremonies published in public notice if they so wish it, they should be able to publish birth announcements, they should be able to have just as much freedom to the press as any other person. For anyone that cries immorality, it’s against the Bible, or any other such nonsense, I would like to gently remind America.. there is no official religion in the United States..and in the struggle for equality of any person, relgion should not play a part, in deciding if that person is equal or not.
