So I was checking my stats meter thing.. it passes…

So I was checking my stats meter thing.. it passes the boredom and lets me know what a certain naughty rogers.com user is up to*L* One of this hours hits was hooey. It’s amazing how removed from American Politics and the hullabaloo that goes around south of me, that I have become in the past year. It seems every time I go home, I hear more and more things that just absolutely astound me in the stupidity of my home country. I think the one that stands out most, was, now in the wake of September 11th, that they wanted to arm the pilots of our commercial air systems.. EXCUSE ME? Suuuuuuuuure.. lets give the jackasses pulling stunts in the air, one more gun to terrorize passengers and said “armed” pilots with. So I discovered on Erunda’s site, that the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in San Francisco has ruled the Pledge of Allegiance “un-Constitutional”. Which is fine for me, I always hated saying that thing before class every morning in my schooling years, and I’m a firm believer in the seperation of Church and State. Which with this ruling, we’d just have to take about EVERYTHING in the Constitution and US government and rule it unconsitutional, for it’s smattered with more “in God”’s and “under God”’s than most people realize. People are up in a snit about it, it’s 2 words people that were not there originally.. deal with it.

“During its previous 62 years of existence, including official recognition by Congress in 1942, the pledge had referred to “one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.” Since 1954, it has read “one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”

In signing the 1954 law, President Dwight Eisenhower said America’s schoolchildren would now proclaim “the dedication of our nation and our people to the almighty,” the court said. A House committee report at the time said the new language would “deny the atheistic and materialistic concepts of communism.”

But yet, in the “great melting pot” of culture, individuality of religion is still scorned. At least to me it is.. wake up America and slap your government.. there is no OFFICIAL religion of the United States. Remember that whole freedom of religion deal? I suppose that freedom of religion only applies, if you follow the thoughts of monotheism…and we all know what faith that is. It really saddens me, when I see statements like this from my countries political leaders… “Obviously, the liberal court in San Francisco has gotten this one wrong. Of course, we are one nation, under God.” - House Speaker Dennis Hastert … No no.. Mr. Hastert, the United States of America is one nation, under many Gods… I’m sure your multi-religion following, mutli-cultural fellow citizens would appreciate you acknowledging that.

So, being bored.. and trading spaces over with >:(…
