Justice Dept. Seeks Pledge Hearing

Article pretty much runs along the lines as the articles that were listed yesterday on Erunda’s site.. but with some new quotes from President Bush. Which his religious standpoints were a fire under my butt from the day he announced he was running..

Bush, in Canada for an economic summit, said the United States needs “commonsense judges who understand that our rights were derived from God,” and that he would appoint such judges. (So that means judges following what faith Mr. President?)Talking to reporters before a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin, Bush said that America “values our relationship with an Almighty.”(That would be the America, that houses people from all walks of life and religions, correct Mr. President?) “The declaration of God in the Pledge of Allegiance doesn’t violate rights (it only causes discomfort to those “Americans” that don’t recite the Pledge because of their religious beliefs, and then get questioned as being un-American? for not saying the Pledge.. why doesn’t anyone see anything wrong with that?). As a matter of fact, it’s a confirmation of the fact that we received our rights from God, as proclaimed in our Declaration of Independence,” Bush said. (Errr.. correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t ever recall seeing anything in the history books about THAT Mr. President. I do remember a war, and some political leaders writing a document severing their ties with the mother country..)
